Cranes and Sunsets

These past few weeks have been pretty insane to say the least. Recently moving into Toronto has given me more reasoning to get out there and shoot. On my latest adventure with one of my good friends Zach Bird  , we brought along with us Toronto Model/Photographer  Danya Maclean.  I always enjoy shooting with new people, and this was no different.

We decided to hit up one of our favourite spots to catch the sunset, and it did not disappoint.

We arrived to our spot around 7:45 pm. We aimed to get there for this time so we could capture the golden hour, as well as the sunset. The Golden hour creates very nice light and shadows for portraits, Zach took full advantage of the opportunity.

After shooting from the roof, we wanted to get just a tad higher. We then went up the crane. Where some of my favourite shots from the day were taken.

Big ups to Danya for climbing up the ladder! After this shot I noticed the cotton candy skies coming in, I was just a tad excited!

Hope you enjoyed this series! With the summer just getting into gear, expect many more to come.

Vertigo

Yet another rooftop series, but with a new twist. I recently picked up a 14mm ultra wide angle lens primarily for shoots just like this. I decided to revisit one of my favourite look out points, lucky enough for me I was able to visit this time during the day (which is a first for me). There were several shots I had in mind that I wanted to capture, and there were a few that came along with ideas from some of my friends.

14mm on a full frame camera is beautiful. These are some look down shots I have always wanted to capture but is impossible to do without this lens.

This is a spot I have always wanted to visit during the day as the view is quite breathtaking. Unfortunately with recent events with some younger crowds visiting and damaging the property, this spot is out of question now.

Hope you all enjoy the photos! Hopefully they give you some sort of feeling ;)

Caution!

On my most recent adventure once again to the roofs, and I can honestly say as I am writing this my legs are feeling very weak. Another climb of a 60+ floor building can really make you question your body shape. The climbs are always painful, but the views are always rewarding enough for me to keep climbing.

This mini series is a combination of 2 buildings, kind of in the same area but with different architecture.

Construction sites can sometimes be a challenge to shoot due to a lot of safety fences blocking your view, but what I see is a playground waiting to be discovered.

This concludes the mini series! Wish I could share more info hehe.

SBC x Shangri-La Toronto

What I love most about being a photographer is the collaborative nature of the industry. This week I had the chance to work with a trifecta of super creative peeps. Neil Wong of Thank You Toronto, Melissa of Best Vacations and the hospitable staff at Shangri-La ( Toronto's premiere Hotel)

We had the opportunity to have a photoshoot on the roof of Shangri-La for Canada Goose, as well as a photoshoot in the Garden Suite with model Melody Ichimura, showcasing some of her best Yoga poses for LuLu Lemon.

The day began with a brief meeting around noon. Here we all signed our waiver forms to access the roof. As you can see here, the view is absolutely beautiful.

Although we were only aloud to be in a certain distance of the edge, it was still a once in a lifetime opportunity.

With the weather being in doubt all week, our rooftop fun was cut short due to snow, yes SNOW! After the rooftop shoot, we headed down to the 6th floor to Shangri-La's beautiful garden suite!

This wrapped up our shoots! We ended the day with a delicious lunch at Shangri-La. This was really a great experience. Big props to Thank You Toronto for the opportunity!

If you're visiting Toronto and want to get the full experience, Shangri-La is a must! Beautiful hotel with even better people.

Stay tuned for more!
