Winter Favourites

Living in Toronto, we see our share of winter weather throughout the cold months. My favourite weather to shoot in is definitely a good snow storm. It adds a unique mood and it's something I thoroughly enjoy.

Here are some of my favourite images I've captured this winter.

The story behind this photo is pretty awesome. I was taking some photos of a few Police officers in Toronto. This officer I chatted with for a few minutes, and asked him to snap a quick portrait. This was a super genuine moment and smile. One of my favourite photos to date.

When shooting in snow storms, I am always thinking to have the shutter as fast as possible to freeze the snow and create somewhat of a dreamy look.

These are just a few of my favourites. I'm looking to get back into my blogs so keep checking back! I am visiting Hong Kong in the next week, make sure to keep a look out for the adventure!

One of my many goals.

One of my dreams as photographers is to someday be able to be an influencer for Nike/Jordan. I was always into sports growing up and have always been into Nike and Jordan sneakers.

Recently I was approached to meet up with Jay (@realjaylife) to meet up and shoot in Toronto. Jay was visiting Toronto for the first time, being from NYC. Nearing the end of the night, passing the harbour front basketball court, we decided to do a Nike style shoot.

These are my favourites from the shoot. Big thanks to Jay, check his page out! @realjaylife

It seems like forever since I've done a blog post, well because it has!

It's been a super busy end of the summer filled with shoots and such. I recently had the opportunity to work with a new airline flying out of Billy Bishop Airport. Greater Toronto Airways is a new company gearing towards adventure flying around the city. They contacted me to get some promo ariel shots, I couldn't say no!

Arriving at the airport, I had met up with the guys at GTA and within minutes we were getting clearance for takeoff! My ride for the day was a small plane, I believe for flight instructions. I had a small window to shoot out of, barely big enough to fit my lens through, but it worked great!

As you can see I had all the controls infront of me, and to be perfectly honest it scared the shit out of me!

Our main focus was to orbit around the CN tower, getting as low as possible (which I believe the lowest clearence was 1700 ft above ground)

Here are some of my favourite shots!

A huge thank you to the guys over at Greater Toronto Airways, if you're interested in experiencing something like this, be sure to check them out!

Doors Open 15

One event I have always seemed to miss in the past has been Doors Open. The City of Toronto gives access to the public to free and rare access to more then 155 architecturally, historically, culturally and socially significant buildings across the city. This event goes over a two day period.

Taking a look at the list of the buildings open, I visited the ones that were good for photographs. I was able to visit all but one of the locations I wanted to which was the Don Jail.

The day started off with a Instameet, hosted by @Alexandramack22 + @evologist . They were able to provide all of us with media passes. These came in handy as we were able to bypass the long lineups.

The first location I wanted to head to was Toronto City Hall. They opened up the observation deck to the public which had a beautiful view of the city. Unfortunately the glass was very dirty so it made it near impossible to take photos of the view.

Next on our walk was a visit to The Sick Kids Hospital. The building they opened was The Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning. We were taken up to the 27th floor to a lobby room with interesting architecture.

Onto the next! We then headed our way over to the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre. It was a fair bit of a walk from our previous spot but it was a beautiful day out. Two of my favourite grammers below @AshtonTekno + @bora.vs.bora were one of the few to branch off with us to the theatre.

The Elgin theatre was my favourite building. The architecture was beautiful, as you can see. The Elgin & Winter Garden Theatre is the only double deck theatre in all of Canada.

This is a place i've ALWAYS wanted to go but never took the time to go. It is always open to the public, but as soon as you pull out a camera you will most likely be asked to leave. This is my favourite shot from the day.

Lastly we went to Queen's Park, I imagine this was on everyone's list as it was very busy. This is the Parliament Chamber. This was definitely my favourite room in the building

Hope you enjoyed the Doors Open event!

Until next time..

Victoria Day Fireworks!

Every year In Canada, on the last Monday before May 25th we celebrate Queen Victoria's Birthday. For most of us, this means an extra day to our weekend, and of course fireworks! I recently just moved into the city so I wanted to check out the firework display in Toronto. The show was held at Ashbridges Bay (In the beaches area of Toronto)

This was my first time shooting fireworks, I had an idea of what I wanted to do but with the show lasting just under 10 minutes I had to learn on the fly quickly.

I am pretty happy with how these turned out for my first time shooting fireworks! I will be in Paris for Bastille Day, cannot wait to see fireworks off the Eiffel Tower!

Hope you enjoyed the series!

On my most recent adventure once again to the roofs, and I can honestly say as I am writing this my legs are feeling very weak. Another climb of a 60+ floor building can really make you question your body shape. The climbs are always painful, but the views are always rewarding enough for me to keep climbing.

This mini series is a combination of 2 buildings, kind of in the same area but with different architecture.

Construction sites can sometimes be a challenge to shoot due to a lot of safety fences blocking your view, but what I see is a playground waiting to be discovered.

This concludes the mini series! Wish I could share more info hehe.
