Lens in the clouds

If you asked me a few months ago to scale these kind of heights, I would say you were crazy. Rooftopping has taken storm over the last year or so in Toronto. Whether being done for photography or just taking in a view of the downtown core, it's quite the adrenaline rush.

Recently, I revisited one of my favourite spots in the city. Usually I wouldn't be so hyped to get back and see the same view, but my from my own personal growth in my photography I wanted to recapture the view.

The plan was to get to the lookout for sunrise, but some hiccups along the way changed the plans. An old saying really holds true "A picture doesn't quite do justice". It's something you really have to see in person.

One of my favourite shots from the shoot. I wanted to get a light trail of the cars on the highway. As you would imagine being up this high creates some challenges in taking long exposures, mainly high winds.

The main reason why this is my favourite spot is because you have a 360 degree view of the city, which allows you to capture everything.

We got lucky to get a pretty nice evening, considering the last time I was at this spot it was about -20 with the windchill. It was a decently warm evening with the beautiful moon behind us, as you can see here!

Hope you enjoyed the read + photos!

SBC x Shangri-La Toronto

What I love most about being a photographer is the collaborative nature of the industry. This week I had the chance to work with a trifecta of super creative peeps. Neil Wong of Thank You Toronto, Melissa of Best Vacations and the hospitable staff at Shangri-La ( Toronto's premiere Hotel)

We had the opportunity to have a photoshoot on the roof of Shangri-La for Canada Goose, as well as a photoshoot in the Garden Suite with model Melody Ichimura, showcasing some of her best Yoga poses for LuLu Lemon.

The day began with a brief meeting around noon. Here we all signed our waiver forms to access the roof. As you can see here, the view is absolutely beautiful.

Although we were only aloud to be in a certain distance of the edge, it was still a once in a lifetime opportunity.

With the weather being in doubt all week, our rooftop fun was cut short due to snow, yes SNOW! After the rooftop shoot, we headed down to the 6th floor to Shangri-La's beautiful garden suite!

This wrapped up our shoots! We ended the day with a delicious lunch at Shangri-La. This was really a great experience. Big props to Thank You Toronto for the opportunity!

If you're visiting Toronto and want to get the full experience, Shangri-La is a must! Beautiful hotel with even better people.

A visit to the Art Gallery of Ontario

Living in Toronto, one place I have never been to but have always wanted to was the AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario) The thing that has always intrigued me was the architecture. Although I have never really been into paintings and such, I have always respected art in any form.

One of my favourite displays was this beautiful room with several paintings. This shot was taken on a overhead lookout of the room. Thought it created a different perspective.

I couldn't help but notice of how every person in the gallery looks at each piece differently. It is very interesting to see. If you haven't visited the AGO, I highly recommend it!
